From My Utmost for His Highest

“Jesus says ‘Come unto Me and I will give you rest,’ i.e., Christ-consciousness will take the place of self-consciousness.”

Oswald Chambers makes a great point in his August 20th devotion. If you feel attacked, misunderstood, or eaten up by negative, critical people, there is no need to defend yourself. Trust Christ, seek Christ, and pray to  Christ and He will give you the rest you need.

Praying that you worship Jesus on Sunday in a powerful way!

  1. What do we do with those negative, critical people in our lives? Do we disregard and discard them? Do we give them endless grace? As Christians we’re not called to be door mats. We weren’t created to have our selves trampled on, but we are called to emulate Christ. It’s a tension that we need to address and navigate in our lives – which is tricky. Thankfully we can depend on Christ! http://www.methodismtoday.com

    1. Chris, I totally agree with your thoughts here. I think that since our first impulse is to strike back, yet perhaps we need to center ourselves on Christ and let Him direct us to an appropriate response.

      Thanks for your thoughts here!
